Behind the Poll
On one hand, some people believe that the Republicans will take back the House majority in 2022. They point to the fact that the party has gained seats in the House in every midterm election since 2010, and argue that this trend will continue. Furthermore, they contend that many of the districts that flipped from Republican to Democrat in 2018 were won by very slim margins, so it is not out of the question for the Republicans to retake them.
On the other hand, others believe that the Democrats will maintain their majority in the House. They point to the fact that the party has won control of the chamber in each of the last three elections, and argue that history will repeat itself. Furthermore, they contend that the Democrats have made significant gains in suburban districts, which are becoming increasingly important in American politics.
It is impossible to say for sure which party will control the House after the 2022 midterm elections. However, what is certain is that it will be a close race, and either party could come out on top.
