Behind the Poll
The Federal Government is the central government of the United States of America and is composed of three branches: the executive, legislative, and judiciary. Do you trust this government? Many people do not. According to a 2017 poll by Pew Research Center, only 18% of Americans say they can trust the federal government always or most of the time. This is a startlingly low number, especially when compared to the 58% of Americans who said they trusted the government when Pew Research Center first started asking this question in 58% of Americans.
There are many reasons why people may not trust the Federal Government. One reason is that there is often a lot of corruption within government officials. Another reason is that the government is often seen as being incompetent and not doing a good job of handling important issues.
However, there are also many people who do trust the Federal Government. One reason is that the government has been around for a long time and has generally been stable. Another reason is that the government does provide some services that are beneficial to people, such as national defense and infrastructure.
